Free libraries for the rural villages
Our organization “Expand Peru” and the “Continental University of sciences and engineering” have signed an agreement pledging to develop and implement cultural and educational projects together in order to benefit the deserving poor living in our region.
One of those projects is the implementation of libraries in several rural villages situated in the Mantaro valley. By this we want to encourage research, reading and education in those villages, where there´s almost no access to cultural activities.
We have begun to realize the first rural library at the beginning of this year. It is located in the building of our project “CASA” in the village of “San Pedro de Saño”. This library will be of use for a population of approximately one thousand adults, adolescents and children.
Furthermore, Expand Peru will be working in the libraries fostering education and culture through special plans executed with the help of local and international volunteers.
