Terms and Conditions


Application and Payment
: In order to apply you should complete and send the application. The volunteer guarantees their participation as soon as they send in their application and a copy of their airline itinerary. We do not accept payment ahead of time. We accept no form of payment through the internet. All payments are made after the volunteer has arrived at the organization.

Acceptance and Confirmation: Acceptance is communicated to the volunteers through an email from our organization.
Start of the Program: The start of the program is the first day the volunteer stays chosen housing option.

Refunds: Due to the nature of the program and the type of organization that we require, it is impossible to receive refunds.

Living Accommodations: All of the volunteers are required to respect and adapt to the  forms and customs of the families with whom they live. They are in charge of the cleanliness and organization of their rooms.

Changes: Volunteers can request a change in their living accommodations only during the first three days of their stay and only from a family to the volunteer house or vice versa.
Changes in volunteer work or program can only be requested before they start. You will receive the necessary information you need from our coordinator.

Arrival and Pickup in the Airport: The volunteers are required to inform us of their form of arrival to our organization and if they will need to be picked up at the airport.  As well, they have to send us an itinerary of up until their arrival in Huancayo, indicating dates and transportation companies they will utilize.
The coordinators of our organization will wait for the volunteers in bus station in Huancayo and bring them to their living accommodations.

If it is necessary, our organization will send a person to pick up the volunteer in the Lima airport, take them to a sleeping accommodation, and accompany on the bus the following day to Huancayo. In Peru, they will be received by the coordinators at Expand Peru.

The last option costs an additional 80.00 USD per person that includes:

- Reception at the Jorge Chaves airport in Lima

- Travel to comfortable sleeping accommodations in Miraflores

- One night lodging in private room

- Travel to the bus station

- Outgoing ticket to Huancayo on the public bus transport

- Reception and travel to housing in Huancayo

Don't Forget to Send:

- A copy of your plane ticket, an email indicating the date and arrival to Huancayo, and a digital photo of yourself.

Medical Insurance: We advice volunteers to obtain their own traveler’s and medical insurance before they leave their country. Expand Peru does not offer insurance of any kind nor pay for illness or any type of medical attention.

Optional Excursions: It is the volunteer’s responsibility to organize their free time without affecting their volunteer work. Weekend activities, trips, excursions, etc. are optional and are not included in the price of the program. Expand Peru is not a travel agency and does not pay for these activities.

Volunteer Behavior: Volunteers should obey all Peruvian laws and should adapt to the costumes of the country, the family, and our society in general.  We reserve the right to expulse any volunteer (without refund) who violates these rules.
The abuse of alcohol and the possession or use of illegal drugs will immediately result in termination of the program and expulsion without refund.
Our organization is not responsible for problems that occur from infliction of the laws in the Peruvian state.

Personal Information: Expand Peru promises to only use the personal information provided by the volunteer or volunteers for means of the organization and volunteering. We will not share this information with any other person or any type of organization.

Responsibility: Trips inherently include some risk. As a volunteer you recognize these risks as in everyday life, in work, and in developing countries like Peru.
Expand Peru is not responsible for whatever inherent risks the volunteer or volunteers may be exposed to during their trip or stay. These risks include but are not limited to: personal injury, damage to property, sickness, accidents, common or organized delinquency, terrorism, and war.

Copyright: Expand Peru reserves the right to use all the commentary and all the photos taken during the volunteer’s stay unless the volunteer expressively denies use of such material.
