Name: Rural Schools

Area: Education

Who We Help: Boys and girls between the years of 6 and 12 years old that attend the rural schools.

d

Objectives:

  • Promote human development by building skills through the formal teaching of English, computers, and art.

  • Promote human development and child intellect

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the quality of education

  • Promote the development of artistic skills and the English language.

  • Give the children better opportunities by providing them with the tools that the schools can’t normally give.

Program Description: The rural schools are centers of primary learning located in the central Andes. They depend economically on the state of Peru and they offer an education for children between 6 and 12 years old.  In these schools there is a lack of professionals and an inadequate budget making it impossible for the children to receive an adequate and complete education.

Through this program, Expand Peru offers many different and unique courses that allow the children to obtain new knowledge and skills in computers, English, and art, among others. For this reason we need your help in order to better the level of education of our schools and help in a form that offers the children a good education and a better future.

Work/Volunteer Activities: The most important part of volunteer work in this program is the interaction with the children. They need a lot of attention, dedication, and above all else, love. Depending on your skills, you can choose the courses you most want to develop: computer, English, or art. If you have different skills, let us know and we can organize something special. Remember that anything you can contribute to the personal and emotional growth of the children is useful and necessary.

Class Preparation: It is the responsibility of the volunteers to prepare the classes one day before so that our organization can offer the necessary help and orientation.

Characteristics of a Volunteer: For this program the volunteer should be highly responsible, creative, dynamic, and patient with the children. The children in the rural areas are introverted and need special attention.

  • Have patience with the work and enjoy the children

  • Be a person capable of working hard in a different environment

  • Be dynamic and have a good sense of humor.

  • Be kind and understanding.

  • Have an ability to integrate into the culture quickly

Important: All the volunteers receive assistance, work materials, accreditation, and certification from our organization. This program is developed in the rural areas outside of city and therefore gives the volunteers an opportunity to have a unique experience and learn more about the culture.
