Short Term Volunteer

Name: Short Term Volunteer

Area: Social, Education, Health

Category:
Social Assistance

Program:

This program is designed for people who have the desire to help but have little time to do it. In this we hope to help the volunteer get the most of their time with us by choosing very certain objectives to accomplish through their volunteer work. Our short term volunteers will choose between developing and implementing a week-long workshop for the children of our CASA program, or simply acting as a teacher and friend for the children of our CASA program by helping with homework, teaching new skills, and playing games.

Who We Help:

Children of the CASA program

Little Ones in line

Objectives:

Strengthen the physical and mental development of the children.  Help the children develop their social, artistic, and athletic abilities through interaction with adults (such as the volunteers), preparing them in this way for their future social, educational, and work-related activities.

Description:

All the children need to develop their social abilities in order to broaden their horizons. It is for this reason that the volunteer plays an important role. The volunteers help develop their abilities and passions through games, fun, and interaction.

Volunteer Work:

Our short term volunteers can do one of two things. First, they can choose to develop and implement a week-long workshop  for our CASA program.  This workshop will be on a topic such as arts and crafts, science, or sports. Secondly, the volunteer can choose to simply act as a teacher and friend to the children of our CASA program, helping with homework, teaching the children new skills, and playing games with them. With this option our volunteers will assist our full-time teacher with the daily activities of the program, acting as a new face for the children of the program.

Necessary Characteristics of a Volunteer:

For this project, a volunteer should be very patient with the kids. The kids that need your love and affection the most are often less receptive and more difficult to manage. Have patience with the kids and enjoy them.
